nothing good it is information for infants’
I have one of these, they dont work good, it only comes on the tv as black and white, when looking at anything, can’t even get land objects into veiw…
*meaning no visual what ever.. just black or white…
It’s advertised as B&W. -.-
Most things that you see through a telescope are going to be in black and white, unless you have a HUGE telescope. And if it was something that you could see in color, just dont use the eyepiece. I think that it is a good idea that Meade made something like this.
FOCUS!
cool stuff!
i just ordered this online like 5 minutes ago haha
Hi Suzie. I’m Jennifer, an LIS student at Catholic University and a Library Specialist at George Washington University. I dance with a Suzi on the weekends!
I lived in Columbia, MD (about 15-20 minutes away from Ft. Meade) my entire life and all the military families I know who've been stationed here either love it or hate it (especially depending which county they choose to live in).
The area is great as far as the fact that Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington DC are all within a 30 minute drive. You'll get to see all the "tourist" type things as much as you like and Baltimore and DC both have a great night life (clubs & bars). If you choose to live in the suburbs you still have all 3 places close by but you don't have to deal with the higher crime rates.
You also have a ton of other places within easy driving distance. Richmond, VA is about an hour away. Ocean City, MD and Philadelphia, PA are within 3 hours driving distance. Virginia Beach is about 5 hours away. West Virginia is around 2 hours away. In the winter there a 3 major skiing places all within 2-3 hours drive. The local community colleges and community groups do day trips to NY City on a regular basis.
The traffic here is horrible (especially 32, 100, & 95 – all of which you have to take to get to Ft. Meade). And the cost of living is pretty high for Howard and Montgomery County (the joke of Howard County is that a townhome in the "ghetto" of Columbia is still worth a quarter of a million).
If you have kids Howard County as the best public schools in the state, but there's not much to do here other than the mall and parks.
Another fun fact is that you have NSA and NASA Goddard right next door and people who hold "government" jobs are so common that you just know not to ask what they do.
If you want to know more about the area feel free to e-mail me (chocolatergrl@yahoo.com)

it IS a directional thing,, have you also noted that the numbers start from the south and get bigger as they go north?? how about the ones to that start in the west and go east?? this system has been in effect for years and helps with all kinds of things!!!! which way to turn if you are looking for a house, etc!!!
This is completely normal for a Newtonian reflector telescope…in fact it indicates that your telescope is properly collimated (aligned).
Actually, you should only see a reflection of your own eye when you look into the eyepiece holder without an eyepiece in it. It should look like this:

I spent this winter break down on the Kenai peninsula with the folks. A few days before the new year, my father, little brother, and I took my little brother’s cheap telescope out to look at the full moon. I had forgotten how difficult it is to actually use a telescope to look at distant objects. For one, it’s really difficult to use a telescope while wearing glasses, and without glasses the focus needs to be changed if someone else wants to look into the eyepiece. It’s also quite difficult to position a cheap telescope by hand while bending over sideways or kneeling on the ground to use the eyepiece. These sorts of manual adjustments are best left to machines, I thought, so I decided to use my little brother’s Lego NXT brick, webcam, and a USB game controller I had recently bought at a thrift shop for a few bucks to put together a robotic control system for the telescope.
In this expensive ass apt. An I can't watch espn because 1 of my neighbors try to steal cable, & the box gotta be repaired. #fail #jerk #902
Slow down, man, slow down. You’re going too fast.
Congrats to who are the 1000th follower of WTTM! Another guy would have been, but he was spammer #902.

Auf einmal ist aus der anderen Ecke ein leises “Na danke!” zu hören.
and you have it?
A lot of eyepieces have focusing rings on them themselves which need to be focused. If however you use eyepieces without focusing rings then it should be pretty par-focal and you should not need to refocus (but that is only in theory). In practise, you will likely have to refocus somewhat as each brand/type of eyepiece will be a little different.

Enjoy…
for openers, you could connect the parts together with wire.
for "multi-leg" parts, it might be best to wire together sockets to hold the pars and then insert the parts into the csockets.. ..
go to a local Radio Shack / Fry's and ask them for "breadboard" devices … and a bit of advice wouldn't hurt either.
((this all assumes you *have* local access to parts and wire … and batteries / wall-warts))

I have already answered a similar question. Use the excel file that I have given in the link.
Generally, you do get what you pay for.
If possible, find a local astronomy club and see what eyepieces those members use. Then attend a star party and ask to look through various eyepieces. That way you can try before making an expensive purchase.
mush nicer than the original!!
Welcome back. Another unit will be along soon to fit your eyepiece and shave your head.
The best relatively inexpensive eyepieces for image quality are Japanese-made Abbe orthoscopics, available from a number of sources – . Their eye relief is a little better than Plossls, though not much, and their apparent FOV is less than 45°. Cost is $60 or less each. For a wider (60°) FOV and decent (16mm) eye relief, I like the Burgess/TMB Planetary eyepieces – at $99 each. These have gone on sale at 3 for $200 a couple of times in the past.
If you are buying 1.25" eyepieces, don't buy a 40mm. You will get the same field of view in a 32 or 35mm Plossl. The 32mm TeleVue Plossl and the 30mm Orion Ultrascopic are excellent in this size, though slightly over $100. I highly recommend buying used eyepieces on Astromart ) . Carefully used eyepieces can be bought for maybe 70% of their new cost and resold for the same if they don't work out for you.
