The proper way to clean a telescope eyepiece is demonstrated by an Antelope Valley Astronomy Club member.

hellodo you have a video for cleaning the main mirror please?
Those pressurized blow cans seep stuff on lenses at times. A blower bulb would be safer for optics but the rest of your video is good sir.
Thanks astrotom!!!!! I am fairly new to the hobby and this info really helps!
For these 2$ Eyepieces to much work, Throw em away an buy some Naglers
only distilled water would be ok to use. tap water contains alot of salts and other minerals
Would acetone spayed lightly on the cotton q-tip be safe for an EP with coated optics? I have not liked the results of the top camera lens cleaners.
I am 99% sure that acetone will dissolve the multicoatings of an eyepiece. Patience, a lot of Q-tips and warm distilled water (in severe cases) will eventually clean the surface. If it is truly beyond this level and it’s an expensive eyepiece (like a TeleVue Nagler), consider sending it back to the manufacturer for professional cleaning instead of risking permanent damage to the surfaces.
Thanks for the info. The reason I ask is that I take my scope out for public viewing sometimes and my Ep’s get covered in eyelash grease. Distilled water does not seem to take this grease off. My Pentax SMC XW has an adjustable cap that will prevent someone with even the longest eyelashes from touching the lens, but it is too expensive to take to public outings. I did once, someone was talking in front of it and got spit on it. I am very picky about cleaning my optics.
Those are very nice lenses wish i had those for my older telescopes.
You can very lightly dip a new, clean Q-tip into distilled water and touch it to the eyepiece, repeating with another Q-tip until the dried gunk is dissolved enough to come off. Doing this with pure, distilled water will not harm your eyepiece. Switch to clean dry Q-tips once the surface appears clear again.

In most optical microscope it is either 5x or 10x, it is more usually the 10x magnification.

Now I realy have to go,was soupose to start cleaning my room this morning around 11:00,but it looks like I'm not getting started until now..
O.o cleaning stuff is not lucky. I'm covered in dust D:
Divide the focal length (in millimeters) by the focal length of the eyepiece (which is always stated in millimeters). So 2000/35 = 57x.
Your computer should have a calculator utility. Feel free to use it.
If you are looking to purchase an eyepiece to maximize your field of view, I recommend that for any eyepiece longer than about 32mm the barrel should be 2" rather than 1.25" (yeah, barrel sizes are still stated in inches), otherwise you'd be better off with a 30-32mm eyepiece because a longer focal length in a 1.25" barrel will have the field of view cut-off and narrowed in spite of the lower magnification.
In other words, without going to a larger barrel eyepiece there will be no gain in field of view going longer than 32mm. Eyepiece design has some bearing as well, but for our purposes we'll assume Plossl eyepieces.
The bowl. Will be much easier to clean.
While you will ruin the finish, it can be cleaned the old fashioned way. But you will never be able to "self clean" properly again. You will ALWAYS have to do it the "old fashioned way" from then on.
Diagonals are usually not used with newtonian reflectors, a 3.5mm eyepiece will give alot of mag with your scope usually lower powers are best with your model, wider fields of view. With a barlow lens the mag may be too much except for really exceptional nights when the air is really still.
Absolutely nothing, and there isn't any need for cleaning products. The likes of bleach can leave a residue which, consequently, will kill fish. The best 'cleaning product' happens to be plenty of warm water, coupled with a cloth and a good algae scraper.
i thought cleaning from the muzzle leads to mediocre accuracy…………

She was in house cleaning. But she tore something in her shoulder working there, so she's not anymore.
oops! i never knew drying them on the side still got the glue wet *_* since i dont hav the brush guards i tried using mini claw hair clips to clip them to an elastic headband hung from a hanger and it seems to work
Something like this perhaps?

In my area, there is so much competition that they charge $2.50 per garment, prepaid. However, I hand wash mine and they come out just fine. Since they go against my body, I launder them by hand after each wearing. I use Woolite which works well without damaging them.
I would not buy eyepieces from ebay or amazon. I have not tried one of the Orion wide field eyepieces myself. They look like a good deal to me. My only concern would be image quality to the edges of the field.
Personally, I noticed a tangible difference when I went to premium eyepieces. And it's not anything I can really put my finger on. It's more of an improvement in my "average experience" from one night to the next. Once I switched, I never had any desire to go back.
This seems like a classic "try before you buy" requirement. If you have a reliable local dealer, he will allow you to do this. He may want to go with you (or he may want a deposit), but you should be able to see if there's any real difference before you shell out the cash.
ADDED: I will say this: the images in my Nagler eyepieces are brighter and sharper than the ones in – say – my older Celestron Ultima. And that was a good eyepiece.
I think I need to retrain myself to be more fugal and less lazy. you videos are inspiring me.
I’ve never had a problem seeing the whole frame on any of my 5d’s. How close is your eyeball to the viewfinder? Maybe you are to far away.
It is the magnification of the eyepiece and that of the objective lens that give the microscope its over all total magnification. For example, if your microscope has an over all magnification of 1200X, this is the product of 120 power (120 X) objective lens multiplied by a 10 power (10X) eyepiece.
Thus, magnification is: objective len's power X eyepiece power.
is that a blueberry

Could all the Golden-i wearable computer need to be more consumer-friendly be a dashing hat? Probably not quite – after all, there’s still the rather noticeable eyepiece to take into account – but William Gerwin’s Kodak Sponsored Studio project does do a better job at removing some of the geek-factor to a wearable system. Gerwin’s intent is a little different to the Golden-i, which prioritizes remote data access rather than predominantly capture. The headset has a 10.1-megapixel camera and an integrated pico-projector, which both hook up wirelessly to a mobile hotspot which uploads content directly to a remote cloud server. When you want to share content, you do so publicly via the projector, and the whole thing is built into a pair of headphones. So, more of a life-blogging tool than the Golden-i claims to be, but as a model of how to make wearable computing more aesthetically acceptable it’s a little more successful than the Kopin’s plastic-heavy style. Unfortunately it’s all just a…
Back from cleaning the bathroom
what that other person said was uncalled for, but it is easier if you just leave it in the water for about thirty minutes, you really dont have to re do it over and over… i just tried it with a badly tarnished black bracelet, came out sparkling silver without me messing with it at all save to flip it once.
2 pipe cleaners & 1 metal clip to the eyepiece in, and i'm already ready to call it quits. obtaining beautiful natural hair is no easy feat!
