I was a bit leery of buying a “zoom” eyepiece and suspected that the movement within the lens assembly would greatly effect the optics. I took a chance because I wanted a quick and dirty spotting eyepiece that would give me a sneak peak at objects before I bothered switching eyepieces. I have now tried this eyepiece on my Celestron 130SLT and compared it side by side with a set of comparable fixed Celestron Omni Possls, which should be of comparable quality. I was very pleasantly surprised, as I saw very little visible difference when viewing Mars and Saturn. I had expected the zoom to cause significant distortion outside the center of the viewfield, and to give substantially less sharp views. However, I found the views very nearly the same. I also tried the zoom over my Celestron Ultima barlow with good results. Some minor refocusing was required with any significant change in zoom, but this was not unexpected. That said, there was a difference between the zoom and fixed lens eyepieces. I did see some differences at higher magnifications, particularly with the barlow. As such, I don’t think a zoom lens is a replacement for a range of fixed eyepieces, particularly if you’re doing photography or viewing deep sky objects. However, this zoom exceeded my expectations and will probably become my main eyepiece for locating and previewing objects. I should note that the barrel of this eyepiece is a few mm wider than other 1.25″ Celestron eyepieces and barlows. It still fits nicely and functions well. It just looks a bit bulky when mounted over a narrower barlow.
Ive been into astronomy for 20 years and have probably 18 eyepieces ranging from 3mm to 40mm, plus a 3x barlow lens. One of the frustrating things in astronomy is fumbling around in the dark looking for that higher/lower magnification eyepiece… and can be costly if dropped. The Celestron Zoom Focus has eliminated all that digging around in the dark for me and has bascially replaced almost all my eyepieces from 24mm and lower.
Now I can just instantly lower or raise the magnification with very little re-focusing and also works great with a 3x barlow lens. I was very impressed with the quality, clarity and detailed views given with this eyepiece. The field of view although was slightly less than my other eyepieces it was not really noticeable and everything I viewed fit in the field of view. I have been using this eyepiece with my Meade Lx200 8 inch scope and Meade ETX-125 5 inch scope with outstanding results. Very smooth motion to transition from the different magnifications.
If your new or an old timer in astronomy this eyepiece is a must. For the newcomer it can save alot of $$$$ spent on many different eyepieces with leaving only the need for the wide field 30-40MM+ eyepieces. For those that have many eyepieces in their case this is a great addition giving you easy trasition to different magnifications. I dont think its a total replacement to the much higher end fixed eyepieces..but to the casual observer like myself this is almost all I need. I wish i had purchased one of these many years ago, absolutely the BEST money ive spent on an astronomical accessory to date….a must buy.
I bought this to try out on my son’s new Nexstar 4 SE. I also bought the Celestron larger eyepiece/filter kit. I thought we might like the convenience of the zoom (we did!) and I did not see much of a difference in the images between the zoom and the fixed EPs. Unlike the fixed EPs, the focus barely changes when changing the magnification on this zoom, and only slight adjustments are required. I also REALLY like the better eye relief and larger “field of view” vs. the smaller f/mm kit EPs.
The barrel of the zoom is bigger then the stock 25mm, and seemed to be a nice quality item. I kept this, and sent the kit back. I will also get a good Barlow and the moon filter, and feel pretty well set (for now).

Or… are you perhaps using the built-in pop up flash? A lens that uses a 77mm diameter filter may be big enough to interfere with the flash – causing a dark band across the top of your picture. Just turn the flash off. If you need a flash, buy one offered by your camera manufacturer.
On a 12-24mm lens I'd use a "thin" or "slim" mount polarizer to avoid vignetting. Vignetting will darken the corners of the picture.
Yep – registered it. Not sure why seeing as it’s onboard X-Fi built into my mobo.

It is the same.
Section 125 refers to the IRS code that the company will fill out a form for so they can deduct the premiums.
Some people think that a Section 125 plan also offers FSA (medical and/or dependent care), but that is not true. You can't have an FSA without a Section 125, but you can have a Section 125 without an FSA offered.
If a company doesn't file the correct form (who's number has escaped me for the moment) they can't take out premiums pre-tax

I agree with John. But have you already found the cause of the score is the question. If not, replace the rings and possibly the piston if it looks scored as well.
First use the 20mm, then the Barlow with the 20mm (effectively 6.7mm), then the 4mm. That is probably the practical maximum for your scope. The steps are the same. Focus, then center; change eyepieces; and repeat again. You use the lower power eyepieces to locate your target and to gage conditions. If you are unable to get a good image with a lower eyepiece, their is nothing to gain by going to a higher magnification.
sorry but this scares me!!! “in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until…” more “in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until a ghost came and killed her so if ur reading this u will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck
Saturn is such a beautiful planet!
Good job ! Looks better than many saturn shots with more expensive imagers.
The cost is exactly, $123.87 (and a few odd cents)
All three, to varying degrees.
You will see some galaxies, which will look like fuzzy blobs.
Planets will be non-stellar and vividly coloured. Saturn will have a pronounced oval shape. Jupiter's 4 big moons will be obvious. Don't expect much surface detail.
Stars. Lots of them. At this time of year the Pleiades and the Orion Nebula are religious experiences in big binoculars.

Dearest pete,
ask those chaps, next time they go up in that Space Shuttle thingy, if you might tag along. I'm sure they'd be pleased to let you slip out for a little space walk. you could probably even borrow their camera. Negates the need to piddle with a nexstar 5, what?
Cheerio old chap,

Have the wedding in the morning, with a champagne brunch immediately afterwards. They'll save big bucks by not offering a full meal and bar. And it would be something different yet elegant.
Aha! My telescope. Too bad it came out long after I got it – had a little difficulty in setting it up.

The longest focal length you can find in your focuser size. At least 40 mm.
2" eyepieces are better than 1 1/4", but can only be used if there's a 2" focuser on your telescope.
Get a wider eyepiece field of view. 67 degrees or something.
You need a very dark site and 30 minutes of dark-adaption to use much of your telescope capability at all. In the places where most people live, it's probably less than 10% for deep sky.
This is completely normal for a Newtonian reflector telescope…in fact it indicates that your telescope is properly collimated (aligned).
Actually, you should only see a reflection of your own eye when you look into the eyepiece holder without an eyepiece in it. It should look like this:

Just get a Re-Boost card, is same as cash. They sell them every where: 7/11, walmart, best buy, target, etc… So if you don't like to pay online, that's your next choice. The Re-Boost card's are very easy to use, just fallow the instruction's on the card.
GOOD LUCK!
I don't have it, but I've seen some great slides from it.
Here's a review:
It has a lot of distortion at the wide end (correctable in PS) but otherwise it looks like a winner.

Could all the Golden-i wearable computer need to be more consumer-friendly be a dashing hat? Probably not quite – after all, there’s still the rather noticeable eyepiece to take into account – but William Gerwin’s Kodak Sponsored Studio project does do a better job at removing some of the geek-factor to a wearable system. Gerwin’s intent is a little different to the Golden-i, which prioritizes remote data access rather than predominantly capture. The headset has a 10.1-megapixel camera and an integrated pico-projector, which both hook up wirelessly to a mobile hotspot which uploads content directly to a remote cloud server. When you want to share content, you do so publicly via the projector, and the whole thing is built into a pair of headphones. So, more of a life-blogging tool than the Golden-i claims to be, but as a model of how to make wearable computing more aesthetically acceptable it’s a little more successful than the Kopin’s plastic-heavy style. Unfortunately it’s all just a…
Can somebody tell me, if the new VR II lens still creep like this one, or is the problem fixed ??

A very good scope, but a bit on the heavy side for me. The 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain optics are a tried and true design: probably more of them out there than of any other design. I have a Celestron NexStar 6SE which uses the same GOTO system, and it's extremely accurate.
The only trouble with the SCT design is that it's the Swiss Army Knife of telescopes: it does everything pretty well, but isn't outstanding at anything. Newtonians will give you a lot more aperture for the money if you're into deep sky objects, and refractors will give you clearer more contrasty images, but will cost a lot of money. My personal favourite scopes are Newtonians on Dobsonian mounts: most bang for the buck, great deep sky and planetary images.

The iPad requires relatively little interaction from its user — so why not put it on your belt and use a wired or wireless connection to hook up an eyepiece and earphones?
great review, i wanted to buy this lens, do you come with the lens so i can fuck you?
